Sleepers along ballast bed.
Twin steel shoots
Creep in parallel.

Uncrossed bridges float above,
As yet un-graffitied.
Lift shafts blossom
On concrete roots.

Empty platforms echo
Passengers past:
Engine horns again
Call across towns.

Cuttings reopened;
Metal artery re-perfused.
