Starts conventionally then follows its feet.
Our walk begins upon familiar shores,
But, as we walk, the more unsure the laws
Become that customed us to sea and land,
That brought us together here hand in hand.
We’ve tried to shout above the rising seas;
But what voice would sound against such as these
Canute-borne, arrogant policies that
Have one end in view: to ‘knock ‘em down flat’
With a life-time promise of heaven-sent
Profits prophesied at trillions per cent?
Something holds that may yet reverse the tide.
The risk they face who force on us their dreams
Is measured. – By how much they can’t abide
To fathom our faces, just their extremes.
