I was prompted to write a peace in response to the threat of the proposed building of SizewellC nuclear power station, next to the internationally important RSPB Reserve of Minsmere on the Suffolk Coast, UK.
Suffolk Coast
soft light,
liminal space,
lost history,
cracking stones.
chiming bell
recalls remembered past,
all things
will come to pass.
look up,
look forward, down.
warning guns foresee
a return to home.
new dangers
shadowed
midst profit’s
imagined dividend.
what should
we lose,
if sense of
place is lost?
memories, hopes,
held strong
within the
turning tide.
