The Trees: The Lungs of Life

CC-BY-NC: Christine Sullivan

Branches and boughs laden with leaves,
Dancing with delight in the breeze,
Oh, tired traveller, take refuge a while,
Safe and sheltered, after a weary mile.

Soothing thy soul, as birdsong pulsates,
And the nest of fractured twigs vibrates,
Long limbs outstretched, in salutation,
Ascending skywards, in adoration.

Whispering leaves echo in the breeze,
Peaceful psithurism melodies,
As arboreal animal antics abound,
From crown and canopy to verdant ground.

This symbiotic synergy,
Ancient exchange of energy,
Soaring skywards, in symphony,
Breathing life from mammal to tree.
