Trying to Wash Clean 1
I guess this about the way people visit our shorelines, to have a wonderful holiday. In doing so, some leave such a signature of rubbish which the sea washes back in every high tide.
Trying to wash clean the mess that’s left behind. Dispelling it from the water and the life it holds.
I walk the shore near our home on an evening and we pick up the rubbish when we can.
There you are
Dragging at the land
Depositing the dregs that have been given to you
Left to you by countless worshipers who sprawl at your edges
Soaking in your between
Dedicating themselves to your beauty and power
There you are
Not acknowledging the false adoration
The reverent irreverence for your essence
the pilgrimage
The life that you hold
The gifts you give back
There you are
Spewing humanities filth back to the line
Neither knowing their being or the destruction they wreak
There you are
Trying to wash clean
Trying the wash clean
